21POLYPLUS is a water-based, environmentally-friendly, coating that offers two-fold protection for marine pilings and the environment.

21POLYPLUS has been proven to encapsulate the preservatives (CCA) used to treat marine pilings, preventing them from leaching into the ecosystem. In many states, the use of marine-treated lumber is now being regulated and in many cases, pilings must be coated with a product like 21POLYPLUS.  Our coatings have been used to protect the pier at the Statue of Liberty, the Port of Los Angeles, and many more notable structures.

Secondly, 21POLYPLUS prevents harmful marine organisms, called marine borers, from attacking marine pilings, extending the life of marine pilings indefinitely.

One kit (5 gallon pail) of 21POLYPLUS will complete (2 coats) approximately 140 square feet of surface area.

Tintable to any color – add 1 gallon of exterior latex paint to the kit for color.

Description

A Polymer Coating for Marine Piling.

fall-sale-buttom-180

21POLYPLUS is a proprietary blend of resins and organic chemistry designed for application on marine piling and wale systems. 21POLYPLUS dries fast and creates a durable, monolithic polymer coating on wood. It has been proven to encapsulate CCA, a preservative that is harmful to humans and the environment. 21POLYPLUS also provides protection against marine borers, which can destroy wooden marine structures within a few short years. All of this protection is provided through a water-based, environmentally-friendly chemistry that you can feel good about using.

21POLYPLUS can be installed by a dealer/applicator or onsite by the contractor. Cuts made to the wood are easily patched and steel fasteners that are protected with 21POLYPLUS experience a substantially increased service life.

When applied in the field, proper mil thickness is ensured with the use of mil gages that are randomly nailed into the substrate. These gages project from the substrate surface and help the applicator determine when the proper millage has been applied to the substrate. After applying two coats of 21POLYPLUS, the gages should be below the coating.

21POLYPLUS is a durable coating that imparts a monolitic finish on marine piles.
Proven to encapsulate the preservatives used in pressure treating marine piles and prevent marine borer attack.

Add 1 gallon of latex paint (of your color choice) to the 21POLYPLUS kit, mix, and roll onto marine piling and wale systems. 21POLYPLUS dries in minutes. Coated parts can be installed 48 hours later. Cuts made to parts are easily patched on site, making 21POLYPLUS both the convenient and obvious choice for protecting the environment and extending the life of marine structures. Reseal the contents of an activated kit. Typical shelf life of activated kit is one week.

Application Requirement: 2 coats totaling 14-17 dry mils.

Coverage: Approximately 140-180 sq. ft. (Actual coverage depends on substrate conditions and application technique.)

I haven’t used this product yet but can I use this on concrete walls of a pool to keep the walls watertight?

We recommend PoolPoxi, Encore’s durable epoxy pool finish for the purpose you’re describing. Thanks for the question!

Applied this to CCA piles very easily. The material is very durable. It was hard for our chainsaws to cut through and the blades dulled pretty quick. That said, the product held up througout the construction of the pier and it has worked out really well. Much more affordable than the “pre-wrapped” options that are out there. I also liked the fact that cuts that we made to stringers could be patched on the site with the same material. Overall, it was easy to use, it was affordable, and it’s working great.
